On following a dream

This is such a crazy thing to write. Ultimately, it's the entry I'd hoped I'd have the chance to be able to write for years, it just was never really the right time. You know the dream that's so big you can't stop thinking about it? That has been this dream for me. The dream is heading back to California, where I was raised. Not forever, but for a bit. Long enough to immerse myself back into the culture, long enough to gain ten pounds in burritos (but I'm riding my bike every day so it's fine), long enough to do the al fresco events that we want to do here but never actually can because of the weather...

We'll do a handful of events in Michigan, of course, but ultimately the end of 2016 will see us living in Santa Barbara, in hopes of applying the skills we've learned in the past decade in a new and very inspiring landscape.

We want to do events on top of mountains, on the beach, in gardens and in vineyards. We want to do weddings at Bacara, Belmond El Encanto, Ojai Valley Inn and Spa, San Ysidro (just saying) - and the list, my friends, it goes on.

We are officially limiting our events in Michigan for 2017 to a max of 6, so we can turn our attention completely to our current clients and our future in California.

The upcoming season is filled with so much excitement here. We'll literally be all over the state - events (17 of them!) in fields, on water, in mountains, on farms, in museums, in backyards, etc. It's going to be one crazy awesome adventure and we're not packing our bags without knocking each and every one of them out of the park before we do. THANK YOU to all of you in Michigan who have supported us and allowed us to do what we love here. This is obviously a transition but it most definitely isn't goodbye.

I read a great quote recently: "The person who risks nothing does nothing, has nothing, is nothing, and becomes nothing. He may avoid suffering and sorrow, but he simply cannot learn and feel and change and grow and love and live."

We're in this biz together because we absolutely love what we do. It is at the core of who we are both professionally and personally, and as a result we know that we have to keep challenging ourselves to be the best we possibly can be. We're so excited. Thanks for following the adventure...

XO,

Alison & Bryan
